Practical guidance on tags, payment flow, penalties, and what to check before your trip.
How toll pricing works
- Expressway tolls are calculated by entry and exit interchange pair.
- Totals can change by vehicle category and departure time.
- Urban expressway connectors are included when they are part of the route.
Vehicle categories
- NEXCO uses five categories: light/motorcycle, standard, medium, large, extra-large.
- This dataset maps four classes: motorcycle-light, car-standard, light-truck-medium, heavy-truck-large.
Payment methods
- ETC and ETC2.0 lanes are the fastest option for most routes.
- Manual lanes still exist for cash and card payments in many toll plazas.
- For rental cars, confirm ETC unit availability and card compatibility before departure.
Before you drive
- Re-run route estimates with your actual departure date and time before travel.
- Check for construction notices and incidents that may alter routing or time.
